3 Things I Will Never Do as Your Pet Portrait Artist

One of my favorite rules to remember is that every “yes” to one thing is a “no” to another course of action.

You accept that your dog will be bouncing off the walls if they don’t get a walk… but you refuse to take them for a walk during the hottest days of the summer or the coldest days of the winter.

When you have a puppy, you say “yes” to having the least amount of items chewed up… because you say “no” to having a floor littered with things within the reach of sharp little teeth.

If your pet sheds, you said “yes” to having more love in your life & “no” to a perfectly clean home!

This is my Retriever, Beau, & it is safe to say that he leaves Golden hairs everywhere.

I’m Marissa, & as a pet portrait artist, I work with people like you who love their furry family members. As a business owner & keepsake creator, this is what I say “no” to when I’m working with you:

  1. SUPER FAST PET PORTRAITS (QUALITY OVER QUICKNESS, EVERY TIME)

Capturing your pet’s soul through hand-painted watercolor portraits is the goal. In order to showcase what makes your pet unique, I take the time to make every brushstroke with intention. Each pet portrait can take 10 to 50+ hours to create, because your furry family member’s painting is no overnight job: it’s a keepsake that is made with craftsmanship.

  1. IMPERSONAL COMMUNICATION BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER THE PET PORTRAIT PROCESS

Whether you’re asking a question before the painting process begins or you’re coming back for another pet portrait, you’re never going to receive impersonal communication. As of right now, I answer every email, every DM, & I love meeting in person if the occasion arises. Not only do I hand paint every portrait, I hand-write every message as well. I want you to feel like you’re talking to a person when you work with me—because you are.

  1. TREAT YOUR PET’S PORTRAIT LIKE A SMALL INVESTMENT

Customized keepsakes are not items that can be purchased “off the rack.” Heirloom-worthy pieces like my hand-painted pet portraits are designed to be cherished for years to come. I create your pet’s portrait like it will be displayed in the Louvre. I also create with the knowledge that you invested your time, financial assets, & trust into my work. I don’t take that lightly, because you & your pet deserve the best.

Hear me out: a pet portrait is not considered a small investment to some, & I understand that. It makes complete sense to pause before saying yes to a portrait.

What if I told you that I’ve seen multiple customers shed tears of joy when they saw the portraits of their furry family members?

Once you acknowledge that you’re not accepting a pet portrait but a collection of memories, a decision becomes evident.

You don’t want off-the-rack decor, you want something worth remembering.

Consider this: what better way to honor the precious animal you love than to get a portrait that showcases their soul.

A portrait that doesn’t only get their coloring right, all their tiny hairs depicted, & their face structure just so, but their total devotion to you.

Say yes to a forever keepsake that’s more than just a painting, but a piece of your heart.
