3 Things You May Not Know About the Painting Process of Our Floral Artwork

Our custom floral paintings reflect life in full bloom. Each petal is crafted with care, & because of that, here are 3 interesting things you may not know about the painting process:

01 Research Takes Place

When I’m creating a floral painting, I look up which flowers are in season & what they represent. Creating beautiful blooms that match the approaching months is important to me. In the Midwest, every season is celebrated, so I want to reflect this appreciation in my work.

02 Petals Take Time

Because the delight is in the details, I take my time with each painting. I capture their creases & texture through watercolor paint. Smaller flowers may take 7-10 hours, while florals that fill the watercolor paper page or canvas could take 10-15+ hours. Each brushstroke is made with intention.

03 Watercolor Florals On Canvases

In addition to florals on watercolor paper, these blooms can also be created on canvases. Watercolor paper is ready to frame, while stretched canvases with their raised sides act as framed artwork by themselves. I am so excited to say Melane & Co. originals are officially on canvas.

There are even more fun facts about my paintings, but these 3 aspects instantly came to mind. Each custom piece, whether it be a custom floral painting or custom pet portrait, is created with care & shipped with joy.
