Why Text Messages Aren’t the Same as Handwritten Cards

On my 18th birthday, my mom told me that there was a surprise for me in the kitchen.
Placed on the counter was a bag of letters from people who took time to wish me a happy birthday.
Twenty-five notes crafted just for me.
The month before, Mom had asked friends & family to send birthday letters to our address.
I read every single note I got, & I still have every single card (I even received one of my own cards, Hello, Deer!).
To this day, that year remains one of my favorite birthdays.
A handwritten card is special because it takes time to select a card, it takes time to craft a personal message in the card, & it takes time to send the card in the mail.
After all, time is a sacred gift to give your loved ones.
A tangible card isn’t just high-quality cardstock paper (which all Melane & Co. cards do have)…
cards are extra special because they feature a design you picked for your recipient, your handwriting (which is like your very own fingerprint in written form), & the kind of intentionality that comes from an old soul.

While I have some treasured text messages that I have saved on my phone, I have way more note cards that I will never let go of.
Cards are keepsakes to hold on to, from the people we want to stay in our lives.
